This story keeps to one week, 12 October 2026. The DevOps page starts a new count every Monday.

Terraform / IaC is named in 248 of the 567 DevOps jobs we could read, 44%.

We counted 571 DevOps jobs at 298 employers in the week of 12 October 2026, and could read 567 of them. Each container on the quay is one job. A bay is a skill, and its stack is as high as the number of jobs that name it.

Terraform / IaC, 248. Python, 246. Kubernetes, 237. 248 minus 237 is 11, the number of jobs between first and third. Eleven jobs is less than one row of containers.

From the quay, Terraform / IaC and Python stand at the same height. The two jobs between them sit at the back of the top layer. Kubernetes is one row short.

Past Kubernetes, the stacks fall away.

Python is the one language among the three. The page charts six more, each named by jobs at 10 or more employers. Go is next, at 128.

Python is named in 246 of the 567 DevOps jobs we could read, 43%, by jobs at 147 employers. In the 369 senior DevOps jobs the share is 49%.

361 of the 567 jobs name at least one language, and 264 name two or more. 567 minus 361 leaves 206 that name none.

One of the seven languages is named more often across all 567 jobs than in the 369 senior ones: PowerShell, 8% against 6%. Python goes the other way, 43% against 49%.

Some bays are painted but not stacked.

The page gives the rest of its skills as shares of the 567 jobs, not as counts. A share is not a count, so we won't stack one. These bays are marked out on the concrete with the share painted on, and left empty.

Eleven jobs.

Three skills within eleven jobs of each other, at the top of the 567 DevOps jobs we could read that week. We count the words in the jobs. What they mean for you is yours to read.

Next Monday we count again.

Curious how many of these skills are already on your CV?

One week, 12 October 2026. The DevOps page counts again on Monday.

How we counted

This page counts the DevOps jobs: titles that name DevOps, site reliability, platform, infrastructure, cloud or systems engineering.

The job type comes from the title. Senior means a senior, lead or principal level in the same job type.

We look for about 250 named skills, by fixed rules, in the 567 ads long enough to read. The other 4 were too short.

The stacks: one container per job, 6 across and 2 deep, so a layer is 12 jobs. A job that names several skills stands in several bays. Skills the page gives only as a share are painted on the concrete and not stacked. Titles and employers are quoted from the page, never the ads.

The jobs come from public job boards, read every six hours: employers' own boards on Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever and Workable, and job sites such as Remote OK, Remotive, Arbeitnow, Jobicy, Himalayas and We Work Remotely. Each job counts once, however many boards or cities list it.

What we can't see: jobs on boards we don't read, and jobs never posted in public; skills a job names in words that aren't on our list; whether a job is filled, how many people apply, or who gets hired.
